One West Kirby

We have brought together a working group of local people who have expressed an interest in becoming involved and who have local knowledge and expertise. The names of the current members appear below.

 
 

Ian Brand

Ian is a retired Chartered Surveyor with 30 years' experience in local government, where he worked on property and asset management, regeneration and community use of assets. He is currently a trustee of Heswall Hall Community Trust and is a life-long Wirral resident.

David Coard

David Coard was born in West Kirby and, having recently retired from a career in finance which started in Liverpool and finished in Exeter, has returned to live in the town. He has served as a trustee on various health and wellbeing charities for the last 30 years.

Gareth Cooper

Gareth is director of GRC Accountants based in Banks Road, West Kirby. He is a Chartered Certified Accountant. Prior to setting up GRC Accountants, Gareth spent more than 8 years in senior positions in large accountancy practices.

Julia Dala

Shrimps Hair Design was established in 1985. Julia started working there in 1987 and bought it originally in a partnership in 1989, then became sole owner in 1993. Julia is part-founder of an established businesses WhatsApp group, comprising 105 local businesses, and a founder member of West Kirby in Bloom. She is committed to keeping West Kirby a ship shape, busy thriving village. The loyalty that her clients have shown her through the years makes her feel it's time to give something back.

Iona Horsburgh

Iona is a West Kirby resident and currently works for Liverpool John Moores University. Previously she worked in the arts sector for over 20 years and on regeneration projects both in Liverpool and throughout the UK. Iona is also a qualified solicitor.

April McGoldrick 

Born in West Kirby and four generations of her family live here.

Retired teacher of English and Drama. Worked at Plessington, West Kirby Grammar School, Calday Grange and retired from Birkenhead School as Head of English. Proud, passionate and full of purpose about the potential West Kirby has to offer to all who live here.

David Rawlinson

David was born in West Kirby and has lived most of his adult life in the town. He is a retired solicitor, school governor and director of a Multi-Academy Trust. He has been a fan of Tranmere Rovers since 1962 and is a member of Caldy Golf Club.

Sue Ramsey

Sue has lived in West Kirby for over 30 years and has had a long career in the recruitment industry. She now specialises in recruiting Non Executives in the private, public and not for profit sectors. A cyclist, walker and golfer Sue is an active member of Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Paul Sheppard

Paul is a chartered town planner with over 35 years’ experience of planning, masterplanning and regeneration based on Merseyside. He has lived on the Wirral for over 40 years. He is a retired Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Kim Waters

Kim is the founder of Kim Waters Design, a creative design service based in the centre of West Kirby. She has over 20 years experience in design and communications with a background of working in the charitable sector and local authority. Kim has lived on the Wirral all her life, and has lived in West Kirby with her family for the last 14 years.

Malcolm Williams

Malcolm has been involved as a volunteer, housing association director and consultant, in a long stream of community regeneration projects. These included setting up housing co-ops, neighbourhood management boards and new social enterprise uses of old buildings. Now semi-retired, he is active locally running Little Eye micro-bakery, and West Kirby Farmers Market.

Dawn Wormell

Dawn is a West Kirby resident, who is passionate about building strong community intelligence lead networks and advocating for the needs of the community with stakeholders. She is currently Business Manager with a local Culture Change and Coaching company. She would love to see a new and positive relationship built with the residents, businesses, and the local council to ensure the widest possible community engagement with future projects.
